Frequently
Asked Questions

You Asked. We Answered.

Our pricing is based on the square footage of your floor and the distance it is from us. These factors plus the desired design (game lines, lettering, logos, etc.) will determine this price. We would love to complete a site visit of your gym floor prior to estimating to get you the most accurate quote.

A typical sized gym floor will take our crew two days to complete. For larger gymnasium, additional days may be needed. Each floor will need somewhere around 48 – 72 hours to dry once we are completed, depending on if your floor is water based finish or oil based finish.

At Praters, we do recommend the use of water based finishes. Water based finishes are safer for the employee to apply (lower VOCs/harsh chemicals), they dry much quicker, and they are also clear as opposed to the yellowish oil based finishes that amber your floor over time.

We recommend using an alcohol based cleaner. Using the simple method of a push broom and towels with an alcohol cleaner once or twice a week is best. In between those days, you can sweep, dust mop, and tack the court with just water and towels (no cleaner). Our Praters Court Marshall gym floor cleaner is available here.

We recommend scheduling your gym floor services as far out as our schedule allows. We typically issue our next year schedule in the Fall. Our calendar books up months in advance…sometimes even further out for “prime time” dates (holidays, school breaks, etc.).

The process begins with a detailed pricing quote for your project. Once the scope of work agreement is reviewed and signed by the customer, we initiate the design phase. During this stage, we provide design proofs and paint samples for your review. Upon final approval and signature for both graphics and paint samples, production will begin, followed by the shipping of your completed order.

The pallet size must be 8′ L x 4′ W x 4′ H, depending on the size of the floor you can stack between 13-15 panels per pallet. Standard panel size is 4’x8 but sometimes can be 4’x 7′.

When stacking the floor you will stack one full row per pallet. You will start with the higher number 15 or 16 in that row and end with the number  1 of that row on top, so that the floor is in order when ready to install. The first panel will be face up, then place protective sheeting over the face of that panel, and the second panel will be face down and so forth.

We charge $12 per square foot for decals. For reference, a circular logo measuring 12′ x 12′ would cost approximately $1,728.00.

Depending on how heavy the foot traffic is across the decal area, you might be able to get 6 months – 1 year usage out of your decal.

We have 2 decal types that work well outdoors – 40c which is typically used for goal pads and can be combined with a combination of anti-skid laminate and specific types of coatings to work well outdoors (best for smooth, flat surfaces) and high tac, which is for more permanent use or for synthetic floors (because it will pull up anything it is stuck to – very sticky, best for porous or textured surfaces)
