Nothing But Net

Nothing But Net all-day free throw marathon raises money for Special Olympics https://www.nothing butnetchatt.com/ Debbie Antonelli, women’s basketball hall of famer and basketball analyst, spent 24 hours shooting 100 free throws every hour, on the hour. She created and organized the event, now in its fifth year, as a way to raise money for the Special Olympics. Inspired by her son, Frankie, a Special Olympics athlete. The entire 24 hours are live streamed, with the time in between free throw shooting filled by interviews with special guests. Including sports and media figures like Robin Roberts, Mike Krzyzewski, Caitlin Clark, and many more. She holds the event each year in her driveway in South Carolina. And this year, Praters donated an outdoor court with the NBN logo branding and game lines. “I mean, my son, Frankie, is my motivation.” Debbie said in an interview with Charleston’s WCSC. “I thought all the years that sport has impacted his life around the Special Olympics, that this was a wonderful opportunity for us to try to do something with our platform, and I have the ability to shoot free throws.” In the five years since the first event, the Nothing But Net fundraiser has

something in the water

A full court rental, full wrap decal, and on-site installation is just another day for the Praters team. But Something in the Water, a music festival for PharrellxAdidas created a new challenge – all of this was done on the beach. somethinginthewater.com In 2019, Pharrell Williams announced a huge lineup for a very ambitious new music festival. For three days, Something in the Water brought fans for a weekend of music, art, wellness, and community. Not only did the festival feature the biggest artists imaginable – Jay-Z, Travis Scott, and Missy Elliott, to name a few – but it also included experiences that you wouldn’t typically find at your average music festival. Local vendors selling food and goods, art installations, dance battles…and yes, an Adidas basketball court directly on the beach, which anyone could play pick-up games on. In fact, many fans thought the court was a rumor, but it ended up as the centerpiece for daytime activity before the music started. The festival was overall a huge success, and it will definitely be back one day (it was set to return in 2020, but was cancelled due to Covid).

Jordan Brand went all out for the 2020 All Star Weekend in Chicago, and Praters helped bring life to the rented court with a full wrap, bright white decal that was used as a creative canvas. jordanbrand classic.com For the first time since 1988, the NBA All Star Weekend took place in Chicago. That year, Michael Jordan dunked twice from the free throw line, to win the slam dunk contest as part of All Star Weekend. You know the picture.  Jordan Brand took the opportunity to commemorate such an iconic moment. They created a pop-up space called HUB23, which first held a retail space for a few lucky fans to buy limited edition merch.  But after the pop-up shop weekend, the facility hosted the Chicago Public School City Final Four and Championship. It was also open to the public throughout All Star Week.

Charlotte Hornets City Court

charlotte hornets

The Charlotte Hornets debuted a brand new design for their alternate court – the Buzz City Court – and we helped bring it to life. www.nba.com/ hornets The 2020-2021 season brought something brand new to the Charlotte Hornets – a City Court. The team played on classic edition courts in the past, but this year joined the ranks of the NBA teams who have a unique design that celebrates their city.  The Hornets have only worn that name since 2014 – when ownership announced that they’d be returning to the team’s roots by changing the name from the Bobcats. This came after a huge movement by fans called “Bring back the Buzz.” Well, it worked, and now the team has a court and jersey theme to showcase Buzz City. The mint, gold, and granite colorway represent Charlotte’s history as the first location of the U.S. Branch Mint, as the home of the Carolina Gold Rush in the 1800s, and the North Carolina state rock.

apostolic christian academy

When they wanted to take their court design to the next level, Apostolic Christian Academy chose to be on the cutting edge with satin finish. www.acamaryville.org/ athletics Satin finish products that are safe for athletes have never been available in the United States until now – and Apostolic Christian Academy was one of the very first schools in the country to take advantage of it. Gloss finish is most often found on basketball courts in the U.S., which makes the floor shine. But with this shine also comes reflection from facility lights, and that makes it difficult to set up photos and videos that don’t have glare. With a satin finish, though, that problem goes away. Not only does the floor still look great and designs still pop, but it’s much easier to capture great views of the court on camera – whether that’s for television, marketing, or any other media need your facility has. Just take a look at the difference between gloss and satin finish on the exact same court.

jacksonville university

A hurricane almost derailed Jacksonville University’s basketball season, but Praters found temporary and long-term solutions to keep that from happening. https://ju dolphins.com/ When Hurricane Irma made landfall in Jacksonville, Florida in September of 2017, Jacksonville University took a huge hit that could have been detrimental to their basketball season. The gym and basketball court were virtually destroyed just one month before their team’s home opener. School officials contacted Praters, and we were on site within 12 hours. After evaluating the damage, we concluded that the floor was a total loss. The roof was also damaged, and needed immediate repair. It looked like the school was going to be unable to use their gym for the upcoming season, which meant they were facing an additional cost of renting a space to host their home basketball games.  After looking at the damage and going over what our options were, we found a way to save JU’s home basketball season. We decided to cut out the affected areas of the court and temporarily place decking above it.  Then, we installed one of our portable rental courts and provided temporary graphics using our PlayOn Decals. The portable court was installed and branded in time

cumberland county high school

A fresh sand and paint in 2017 for Cumberland County High School won a national design award. https://cchs. ccschools.k12tn.net/ When a school has a particular design in mind, Praters makes the vision come to life. And that was the case for Cumberland County High School in 2017. Admin at the school wanted the basketball court to be a point of pride for the community, a place people could come together and see what the Jets were all about. The design features a light blue stain that covers a majority of the floor, which brings to mind the clear blue sky that the Jets fly in. “Our floor is absolutely immaculate,” head girls basketball coach, Radhika Miller, said. “When other teams come to this gym, the first thing they say is ‘wow!’ And our players take such pride in it. The very first game of the year, we got to run out, and it was all about our new floor. We are so proud to show it off.” And their new court wasn’t all the student athletes had to be proud of that year, either. The boys and girls teams each had an excellent season. Both teams made it to semi-finals
